VT99 Virgin Rail MK - Luton contract is run by Bedford with four Volvo/Plaxton coaches, 3 for service and a spare. The X5 uses 14 coaches on a 30 minute frequency between Oxford- MK - Bedford- Cambridge, now in its own gallery. School contracts form a major part of Bedfords work with a batch of older Interurbans now as 70 seaters for these duties, 6 of the newest Olympians are in Harpur Trust Schools contract liveries, with many other Olympians also used. The Planets arrived in August 06 with buses liveried up for Mars (east Beds) Jupiter (Ampthill area) Mercury (Kettering road) Saturn (Luton road) and Venus for Cranfield. these services were later altered and liveries removed but the M J P S prefixed numbers were retained. Town routes (1-9) are all low floor with Darts and Solos (3/4/8) all these routes were split in the town in 2007/8 to improve running times, which had suffered from traffic congestion over the past few years. But none operate on a Sunday. Two other tendered routes are also run. 4 Darts are on the contracted Park and Ride service from Elstow, these are painted in Bedfordshire CC Blue and Green. A major arson attack a Biggleswade destroyed over a dozen vehicles in 2004 with a mixed bag on older vehicles arriving to take there place.
